Home treatment for hives
Hives are common allergy symptoms which can be triggered by reactions to variety of foods, animal dander, medications, pollen and insect bites. It is raised, itchy, red bumpy rash that generally crop up signally or in clusters. Short term cases of hives are know as acute hives while hives lasting more than six weeks are known as chronic hives. It causes rings and patches all over the body. It is caused by a chemical termed as histamine, which leads to red blotches on the skin surface. Hives are of different sizes, varying on how serious the illness is. It can also occur due to tight clothes, exposure to extreme weather, hereditary or even sweat. The most common symptoms of hives are swelling on the affected area, itchiness, difficulty in doing routine job and pain. However, hives can be treated at home by the natural remedies. Some of the home treatment for hives is mentioned below.
Home treatment for hives:
- Add a few drops of grapefruit seed extract in a teaspoon of vegetable oil or olive oil. Apply this mixture over the affected area for lessening or eliminating hives. This mixture will also reduce itching of the hives.
- The most popular and efficient way to treat hives would be a cool showers or bath.
- Fill half of the bucket with lukewarm water and add half cup each of cornstarch and baking soda in it. Soak your body in that water as it is an effective way of reducing or eliminating hives.
- Apply Vitamin E oil on the affected area as that would help in lessening or eliminating hives. Repeat the process at least twice a day.
- you can drink peppermint, chamomile or valerian tea because they soothe the mind and help in treating hives
- You can also prepare a tea by adding 2 teaspoons of powdered stinging nettle. Add a teaspoon of honey or a few drops of lemon in tea for flavor. Stinging nettles are popular for the healing effect over the hives.
- Apply the aloe vera gel on the affected area as this helps in curing hives. You can either go for the cream containing aloe vera or pulp of it.
- Increase the consumption of foods that are rich in vitamin C and E with zinc.
- Mix 3 teaspoons of cornstarch in 2 cups of oatmeal and add a little water to make a paste. Apply that paste on the affected area for about half an hour and then wash it with water.
- Swimming in chlorine water sis also good for treating hives.
- Add grapefruit seed extract in a cup of water and spray the solution on the affected area of hives.
- Add a tablespoon of oatmeal in a cup of boiling water. Apply the mixture over the affected area for half an hour.
- Affected area should not be exposed to sunlight as sunlight can dilate the blood vessel and increases the hives.
