Alternative Treatment for Hives

Apart from the conventional mode of treatment for hives there are many alternative treatment methods for hives. We will discuss them in this article.

Herbal Therapy for treating hives:

  • Parsley contains antihistamine compounds that can stop itching. Take 3 teaspoons of fresh parsley or 1 teaspoon of dried parsley and add it into a cup of boiling water and boil for 5-10 minutes Strain it and drink up to 3 cups every day.
  • Amaranth seeds also contain antihistamine compounds which are very beneficial in treating hives. Take 2 teaspoons of crushed amaranth seeds and boil it in 3 cups of water for 15 minutes. Strain and dab it over the hives with a cotton cloth.
  • Aloe Vera is also very good to subside itching caused by hives. Aloe Vera gels are readily available in the market. Apply it on affected areas to find relief.
  • Ginger is very good for eliminating hives and reducing itching and burning symptoms. Make a concoction of ginger with boiling water and add this to your bath. Soak yourself in this water for 30 minutes and you will feel better. You can also take ginger as supplements to get rid of hives.
  • Another way to treat hives is to use sandalwood oil. Sandalwood oil helps in calming and soothing itchy skin related to hives. Apply sandalwood oil on affected areas of the skin to get relief from hive symptoms.

Homeopathy treatment for hives:

Homeopathy is an alternative way to treat hives. A homeopathy practitioner will have to know your medical history to prescribe medicines to you. Homeopathy treatments are usually permanent but it takes long to cure the disease in hand. Homeopathy medicines do not have side effects.

Hydrotherapy for treating hives:

A bath helps intensely in relieving symptoms of hives. There are different kinds of baths that give relief to hives symptoms. Some of the baths that will help are discussed below.

  • Add a pack of oatmeal to a lukewarm water bath. You can use regular or quick oats and can also grind them to make a fine powder. Soak yourself in the bath for at least 30 minutes. This will help with the itching.
  • Add about 3-8 tablespoons of baking soda into your bath and soak yourself in this bath for about 30 minutes. Gently pa yourself dry, avoid rubbing.
  • Cider vinegar is also very good to help relieve hive symptoms. Add a cup of cider vinegar into a warm bath and soak yourself in it for 30 minutes. Gently pat dry yourself. You can also apply diluted vinegar directly to hives to get rid of itching and restore the skin's natural pH balance.
  • Drink plenty of water and fluids to flush away the toxins from the body.
